WOLVES LACROSSE ASSOCIATION
FROM THE PRESIDENT…

When the final horn sounded back in July 2022, It marked an incredible season with recorded breaking
registrations, huge volunteer base, and incredible success on the floor. Entering the season and having returned to
a full normal playing schedule was the fear of uncertainty after two years of restrictions with the Pandemic. The
Wolves Board worked hard on our return to normal play and the results were outstanding as families and
participants were eager to get back and the opportunity to try a different sport was the perfect solution to expand
ones skills and scope on sports.
The Wolves Lacrosse Association continues to be a leader in promoting the sport of lacrosse and provides a quality
program for all ages and genders while emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and passion. Success does
not need to be measured by the number of championships but whether how our young players embrace the game
and enjoy their year.

Registration is open again!!! Schedules will be forthcoming. With the excitement of the new start to a season, the
Wolves Lacrosse Association have added a little more excitement as we release our new LOGO and start to our
rebrand. Recently we welcomed the community of Bedford to our membership which already included the
communities of Sackville, Beaverbank, Fall River, Wellington, Windsor Jct., Elmsdale and Mount Uniacke. The new
LOGO represents a fresh image representing our entire catchment territory. RUN WITH THE WOLVES is a slogan
that not only reflects on the physical aspect of our sport (lots of running) but the cultural and spiritual connection
the game of lacrosse has to our First Nation forefathers and Indigenous communities. Please read “Spirit of the
Wolf” written by one of our past coaches Brian Knockwood (found on website) who has truly captured the
meaning behind our LOGO.

So welcome back to all our returning participants as well all new participants who have moved into our territory or
those who are playing for the first time. Our coaches and assistant coaches are the best and will be there to teach
the skills and strategy of the game at the same time provide a safe environment for all.
Sports today have many obstacles either not enough infrastructure or none. By far the biggest challenge we face in
developing the sport of lacrosse is the lack of dedicated space for the lacrosse community to practice and play
games. Hockey/Ringette have many ice arenas, there are fields designed for football, rugby, and soccer (also
soccer has various indoor facilities), ball diamonds for baseball/softball/slow pitch, gymnasiums for basketball and
volleyball, outdoor and indoor tennis courts, and even skateboard parks. The extension of the hockey season only
increases the necessity of getting a playing surface for our sport. Please join us in expressing that opinion and help
us lobby our politicians and city councillors that all sports should be treated equally and be on the same playing
field.

To all our players, coaches, managers and the Wolves Executive, I would like to welcome you to the 2023 season
and lets be true to the Spirit of the Wolf. Have fun and see you at the Arena.

Run with the Wolves
